When you’re going the distance, you need a knife that will do the same. Inspired by—and built for—tactical situations, the Bailout® takes ultralight power to its maximum potential. Boasting a diamond-textured, anodized aluminum handle and CPM-M4 blade steel in a tanto profile, this slim pocket tool achieves an optimal strength-to-weight ratio that makes it suitable for hard use and everyday carry in equal measure. New for 2023 is the starkly-contrasting Crater Blue handle and Flat Dark Earth blade combo.
Every Benchmade knife begins with high-grade steel, laser-cut for precision and strength. Each blade is meticulously ground, beveled, and finished to exacting standards, ensuring exceptional performance and durability. Our handles are milled and machined in-house to the tightest tolerances, then hand-assembled and sharpened by expert technicians. With over thirty years of manufacturing excellence behind every edge, our knives are proudly crafted in our state-of-the-art facility in Oregon City, Oregon.
- Blade Style : Tanto
- This shape is easily identified by the angular lines. The knife edge is flat and transitions with a hard break in the angle from the tip to the primary edge
- Blade Steel : CPM-M4 Super Steel (62-64HRC)
- An air-hardenable, non-stainless tool steel that has an exceptional balance of extreme toughness, strength, and wear resistance, making it an excellent choice for general purpose, hard-use cutting tools
- Handle : 6061-T6 Aluminum
- Exceptionally tough, yet lightweight. Aluminum can be anodized in many colours and milled with fine detail. It also naturally resists corrosion
- Opening Action : Manual - Axis Lock
- Manually opened knives must be opened 100% from the closed position to the open position by the user

Proper care and regular maintenance help make your Benchmade knife yours, for life. Here are some tips for keeping your Benchmade in peak conditions:
- Prevent Rust
- All steels, regardless of grade or price, can eventually rust. To avoid corrosion, always keep your knife clean, dry, and lightly lubricated. If rust or spotting appears, a quality semi-chrome metal polish can usually restore the finish
- Hand-Wash Only
- Always hand-wash your knife with warm water and mild dish soap, then dry thoroughly
- Use as Intended
- Benchmade knives are precision cutting tools. Do not use your knife as a pry-bar, screwdriver, chisel, or punch—unless specifically designed for those functions
- Sharpen with Care
- If sharpening at home, avoid grinding wheels and high-speed machinery, as they can damage the blade. Use appropriate hand-sharpening methods for best results
- Tighten Hardware
- Over time, handle, pivot, and pocket clip screws may loosen. Use T6 and T10 Torx drivers for adjustments and apply a small amount of releasable thread-locker to maintain secure fittings
